End-of-course SFQ Survey Exercises

  1. In HKUST, all lecture-based sections are required to collect student feedback using SFQs. For most courses, the SFQ surveys are normally conducted during week 11-13 of the term or two weeks before the end of the course examination.

  2. Students can complete SFQs through one of the following means:

  3. Faculty and instructors can also make use of HKUST iLearn App / mobile website of SFQ to conduct SFQ in classes. For more details, please refer to here.

  4. During the data collection period, students who have not completed all their SFQ surveys are reminded regularly through emails.

  5. After the data have been collected, reports are generated and can be accessed online. Course instructors are given access to SFQ reports only AFTER they have submitted their course grades.

CELT has produced the following types of SFQ reports to meet different stakeholders’ needs:

Note 1: Because the data capture period sometimes extends over a long period of time, the module (LANG only), department, school and university statistics are subject to change during the first month after the release of the reports.

  • Provisional reports are now immediately available after the completion of the evaluation, provided that the instructors have submitted their final grades for the courses. Instructors can contact the authorized person in the department to generate provisional reports.
  • As for other reports, because they contain aggregate statistics (i.e. course, department, school and university level) they will be released after the deadline for final course grade submission, which is usually 4-5 weeks after week 13 for regular terms. For winter and summer terms, they will be released in late February and September respectively. Because the data capture period for SFQ surveys often extends beyond the end of the term, the aggregate statistics in the reports will be subject to minor changes during the first month after the reports are released.
  • Final version of SFQ reports is disseminated to instructors through LMES (http://lmes.ust.hk) or Canvas (https://canvas.ust.hk). A summary of the SFQ survey results is disseminated to all members of HKUST including students and staff through the website of SFQ Survey Results (http://sfq.ust.hk/results/)
